You can create a life of Excuses or a Life of Purpose…It’s your choice

A Life of Excuses creates the Illusion of Security.

He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else. – Benjamin Franklin

Excuses are lies we tell ourselves about people, events, and circumstances.

We invent these Fairy Tale lies to defend our fragile egos, behavior, to postpone acting, or to avoid accepting responsibility!

Excuses are our way of placing the blame of our internal Fear on an external condition.

Are you making excuses when things don’t go your way?

Do you avoid Responsibility for the circumstances of your life?

Are you Rationalizing away why you didn’t, couldn’t, shouldn’t, or wouldn’t do what YOU know YOU need to?

These are signs that YOU are living a life of excuses to create the Illusion of Security.

ALL excuses will prevent you from living your Purpose & Passion!

Every Excuse comes from Fear, and Fear wants to keep you in your Comfort and Security Zone.

Fear is the Enemy of your God-Given Purpose and Passion.

We must STOP the Construction of our Comfort Zone (Making Excuses) and start pursuing our Purpose.

All True Success in life is Built-in Fear, Uncomfortable, and Unfamiliar Zones.

You cannot live a Fulfilling life sitting in the boat with a life preserver surrounded by other people afraid to take a chance.

It’s time to step out of the boat and try to walk on water!

Of course, YOU WILL FAIL. This is the GOOD NEWS!

Only those who step out of their comfort zones can succeed.

Matthew 14:25-31 (Wording in Bold is my Emphasis)

25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.

27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”

29 “Come,” he said.

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

I LOVE this story of Peter!

You can see the progression we ALL will go through in life to fulfill the calling on our lives.

All the disciples were in the boat pursuing their God-Given Purpose.

They were ALL afraid of what they saw: The storm, waves, wind, darkness, and Jesus’ walking on water towards them.

Only Peter had the Courage to face his fear and step out of his Illusion of Security.

What do you think the other disciples said to him as he stood up, preparing to step out into the ocean?

Are you crazy? Sit down and stop rocking the boat; you will drown, it’s too risky, don’t be an idiot, you are not God, you don’t know how to walk on water, no one has ever done it before, stop being so arrogant and so many more Excuses!

The greatest part of the story is that Peter did WALK ON WATER.

Yes, he sank and needed to be rescued, BUT HE WALKED ON WATER!!

The others in the boat had the same opportunity as Peter, but they believed their fear instead of their Purpose.

What boats are you sitting in working hard to create the Illusion of Security – Your personal Fairy Tales?

It’s time to take courage, step out of your comfort zone and Walk On Water!

Find Your Passion…Find Your Life!
