Blind Leading the Blind

I was a terrible student in High School, and for the few college courses I took.

School always felt like the Blind leading the Blind.

For the most part, I was taught Theory from a teacher who had never done what they were teaching. They were highly educated and had a tremendous amount of knowledge about their subject.

Many of the students flourished in this system, but I crashed and burned.

One of the college courses I was most excited about taking was a business class because that was something I was very interested in.

I barely made it through the course with a low C grade. The teacher was incredibly educated in business, had taught for many years, read every book on the subject, and was highly thought of in Academia circles.

Everything that he taught us was from a book, experiences someone else had, that he had only read about.

He Never owned his own business. All the info he acquired came from sitting on the sideline reading about it from others.

This teacher never failed in business, never lost all his money, gone through the frustrations of running a business, or lost sleep wondering how he was going to pay the bills.

Please do NOT misunderstand me. I believe in education, the pursuit of knowledge, and reading from the works of others.

My challenge is you must have a balance of Education and Experience.

Education without Experience will lead to Arrogance.

Life is not a Spectator Sport.

Since my failure to learn from our current educational system, I changed how and where I learn.

Today my teachers are men and women who have done what I want to do.

I read and study people who own businesses. This has helped me to become a MUCH better student.

The key to this style of education is I am forced to apply what I’ve learned.

Study a little and practice a lot!

Most meals take me about 10 minutes to eat, but most of my workouts take 60 minutes.

If all I did was eating without working out, I would be fat and out of shape.

The same goes for the food you are feeding your mind (Learning). If all you do is read and not apply (work out), your brain becomes fat and out of shape.

The two steps you MUST do starting today are:

1.       Find teachers who have done what you want to do.

2.       Invest the majority of your time applying what they are teaching you.

You will only remain blind if you continue following the blind!
