I played a little golf at a course near my house growing up, and it was safe to say I was terrible.
Golf is a mental game and one that can humble even the best golfers.
A friend of mine, who has been taking lessons, told me what his golf instructor taught him…
“The Ball is your Teacher”
When I tried playing golf, I would Always slice my wood shots…Always!
The Ball was trying to teach me, but all I could do was throw a temper tantrum on the golf course.
After hitting my 3rd or 4th slice, and yelling “Four” each time because I would slice into another fairway was when I would manifest into a Demon.
No idea how many golf clubs I broke or threw into the water in a fit of rage cursing like a drunken sailor.
To this day, I have no idea why anyone would pay to torture themselves on a golf course multiple times per week!
The ball was trying to tell me my swing was wrong, my weight was not shifting fast enough, and my hands were not twisting at the right time.
The Ball is Your Teacher!
For all of us Non-Golfers, We would say: Your Attitude is your Teacher!
When life tees you up and hits you like a 1 wood hitting a golf ball, how do you respond?
What comes out of your mouth?
Our words will reveal the depth or shallowness of our Attitude.
When I first started my Sales career, I had a habit of only calling on businesses that did not scare me.
That meant people who were struggling financially and those who did not have any formal education just like me.
This was a very poor way to try and build my sales business, and one of the reasons I never made any commissions for 18 months!
The results of this process also showed my true attitude.
I blamed the businesses, my bosses, and the economy for my failures! My words revealed my shallow Attitude.
Life was hitting me, and I kept slicing and turning into a cursing demon on the Life Course.
My response to being hit was trying to teach me that I had to change my sales swing.
The best way to learn what your Attitude is trying to Teach you is to get a Mentor or Coach.
You can try and do it yourself, but I guarantee it will take you so much longer, and you will lose so much money in the process.
My life and my Sales Swing did radically change when Gregorio became my sales mentor!
