“Squirrel” -Dug (the Dog from the movie Up).

Distractions are Easy.

Distractions are everywhere you look.

Distractions are an excuse to quit.

Distractions are a crutch.

Distractions are your Enemy.

Distractions Destroy Dreams!

Learning to stay focused on your Dream will take consistent effort. You must exercise your brain the same way you do your body so that you become its Master and not its slave!

The undisciplined mind will see and chase Squirrels (Distractions) all day long.

Distractions will do to you what a magnet will do to a compass. They will pull you off track so that by the end of your day/life, you will not be anywhere near where you were supposed to be.

Some have said I have the attention span of a nat. Over the years, I have had to continually work on this so that I don’t end up like Dug the Dog chasing squirrels my entire life.

Distractions are your Dreams test to show you where you are at on your journey.

In school, when the teacher would give you a test, it was to show YOU where you were at in the class. The test was NOT for the teacher – they already know the answers.

Distractions are the Questions…Do you know the Answers? If you don’t know the answers, you will have to continue taking the test until you pass.

Here are 5 steps to help you overcome your Distraction Addiction:

1.       Know your Purpose & Passion – When you understand these, you understand why you are here and what you need to do to accomplish that. These are the most important things you must know and your greatest weapon against Distractions!

2.       Create a daily plan – This is your GPS directions for the day. Write them out and follow them. No Direction = No Dream (Success).

3.       Turn OFF ALL of your phone notifications. Put your phone on silent and disable the screen pop-ups. These are Squirrels. You are not a dog, so stop chasing them! Schedule times you will check your phone/emails in your Plan/GPS.

4.       Take a 5-minute break every hour – Stretch, take a short walk, and get away from people, phones, and computers.

5.       Insulate yourself from people who are negative and love drama – You have insulation in your home to protect it from the elements. Learn to say no and walk away = Insulation!

These are just a start, and ones I try to use daily in my fight to stay focused on my Dreams.

You only have enough time and energy in your life to pursue one or the other: Your Dreams or Your Distractions.

     Find Your Passion…Find Your Life!
