The Journey is More Important than the Finish

I was never able to understand when my mentors would tell me the Journey is more important than the finish line!

This sounded like “Coach Speak,” things your coach will tell you that sound like they belong on a Hallmark Card.

How could the Journey be more important than the Finish? The end of the race is where you get to win, receive a trophy and get recognized for your accomplishments.

All of those things sound really GOOD to me especially compared to the so-called value of the Journey.

I have put so much focus on finishing/reaching my goals that I was blinded to the real value…The Journey.

True change does NOT happen when you cross the Finish line or achieve your goal.

The real relevance of the race you are in right now comes from the small daily steps it takes to reach the Finish Line.

There is Magic in the thousands of steps it will take to achieve your goal. It is what YOU become in the struggle to consistently move forward towards the Finish Line.

Winning the race, getting a trophy and receiving recognition ALL FADE away in a short amount of time. These things in themselves have NO VALUE except to prove you crossed the finish line.

The Real Value is how tough, strong, confident, wise and the development of Successful life habits you acquired along the way. This is why the Journey is SO MUCH better than the Finish.

Anyone can set a goal to lose 10 pounds or make more money BUT did you change in the process of achieving that goal? If you did not, then NOTHING changed, and you will gain the weight and debt back!

We MUST change the daily habits in the process of pursuing our goals or like a dog we will return and eat our own vomit!

For today FORGET about the Finish line and focus on being consistent each day in changing the habits necessary to build the New You.
