Who have you pushed lately?

All of the personal growth that I have experienced over the years has come from someone giving me a push!

I know people that would call this bullying, but that would only be because they do not like how they feel when someone turns the light on and reveals our excuses.

A woman in an audience I spoke to came up to me after the speech and said you are a good speaker and could be great, but you are out of shape and fat. She pushed me, but at the time I hated it because it was TRUE!

For the next couple days after that I made a lot of rationalizations about my weight and if asked would have told you she was a bully.

Today I thank God for that lady every day because that PUSH was what I needed to change my life!

I could share one story after another of people who pushed me to be better, but at the time of the Push, I was not a happy camper.

No one likes to be pushed, and there are ways to do it that are better than others. The bottom line is we Need to Help People by Being the One Willing to Push!

Let’s take Family out of the equation because that’s part of their job to Push us, but everyone else in your life is secretly looking for help.

Be forewarned that the minute you Push two things are going to happen: First the person you Push might get offended like I did with the lady who said I was out of shape and second people will start to Push you to be better!

The key to Pushing successfully is to do it in a way that the person can receive it. Do it in a way that best fits their personality and make sure you are doing it out of a desire to truly help and not to manipulate.

This is what some call tough love. Just make sure you don’t forget the Love.

We ALL need a Push once in a while to become better, so be on the lookout for those you can help to change their lives.
