Success in life is a Team Sport.
I can still remember my first day of football practice. It was 90 degrees, we were in full pads running sprints up a grass hill, and I was totally out of shape. I thought about quitting or at least faking an injury the entire practice, but I knew the coach would scream Permission Denied!
There was even a point where I started throwing up and became a little delirious but kept going because I could not face the team or coach if I did.
Playing football taught me a lot about not giving up and how important it is to be a part of a team.
It would have been easy to quit without the coach and team being around that day. I guarantee this, if I were alone I would have definitely talked myself into giving up.
There is no way I would have achieved the goals I did without coaches constantly pushing me past my self-imposed barriers and the support of the team.
Your job or business is the same way a football team is. Your bosses and customers are the coaches, and their job is to push you beyond what you think you can.
It doesn’t matter if you like the coach or the team. All that matters is that YOU commit to the coaches and team.
If you commit to them, you protect yourself from quitting on your dreams and goals because success is a team sport!
There are some of you who work independently and have no one in an office or that you work directly with. If this is the case, then it is critical for you to find some coaches and a team to surround yourself with.
We all must be accountable to a group, or we make it too easy to quit! Life will already be hard and at times unfair but don’t make it impossible by trying to be a lone ranger!
Permission Denied for you to give up! Get back up, dust yourself off and let your coaches know what your next step is.
