What is your GPA?

I graduated High School by the skin of my teeth with a 1.5 GPA and was in the bottom 10% of the class. When I tell this to people most ask if I had a learning disability and I tell them I had many self-inflicted disabilities: Laziness, Entitlement Mentality, Rebellious and Immature!

In each of my classes, except for lunch and gym, I did just enough to pass. This meant not bringing work home, not studying, and never doing more than the minimum requirement!

Take a guess as to how many colleges and companies were courting me after graduation? ZERO and why would anyone want someone who did the least amount of work to be on their team.

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is an indicator of how well you are doing in school and to a degree how much or how little you are invested in the process.

Most students are constantly checking on and calculating their GPA to make sure theirs is the highest one possible.

What if your Job/Work did what all schools do by giving you a report card with your current GPA on it?

How many people do you think would have a sub 2.0 GPA at work (this is equivalent to a C or D student)? According to Gallop, 70% of the American workforce would fall into that group!

How often are you late for work?

Do you rush like a crazy person to get to work because you can’t get out of bed?

Do you do more than what is asked by taking initiative (Extra Credit)?

Do you Complain about work?

Does your boss have to tell you to go home or are you waiting for quitting time like you’re a horse in the Kentucky Derby waiting for the gate to open?

I challenge you to honestly grade yourself at work each month. Would you want to hire you?

Lastly, if you are a 2.0 GPA worker, then you cannot get mad at your kids if they decide to be that kind of student or worker.

Let’s be one of the 3.0 to 4.0 GPA workers – these are the ones who get promoted and have to be told to go home. They are the ones having the most FUN!
