Jump Start Your Job

As my wife and I were sitting in heavy traffic at a traffic light, we noticed the car next to us had stalled. You could see the panic on the young woman’s face as she frantically tried turning the key with no results.

The cars behind them were starting to honk as the light turned green but that car was not responding. I jumped out to help push them out of the way, and my wife took our car off to the side.

Since their car was a stick shift, I told the driver to pop the clutch once we got the car moving by pushing it. No matter how hard her boyfriend and I tried, we could not get that car to move.

We tried a half dozen times to push this car and even made sure she wasn’t standing on the brake or had the car in gear.

We finally realized the parking brake was on this whole time!  With all the honking and people yelling at us to get out of the way we never thought about checking this!

Getting the car to move now was easy! She popped the clutch and off they went.

This is the same problem you see at work every day. People are stalled at their desks causing work to get backed up (Traffic Jams).

They have no energy to move or get the work done, and it’s creating a lot of tension and frustration with the other workers!

There are two simple ways to jump-start your job:

1.       Push yourself to move as fast as you can at work each day. This will create momentum and energy. Even the most lethargic and lazy person can pop their clutch (Attitude) and jump start their career through action!

2.       Get a Jump from someone who has Passion (Energy). When your battery dies the easiest way to get moving is to connect your dead battery with a healthy thriving one. Energy is transferred from person to person the same way cables do it when connected to cars.

Everyone breaks down once in a while, but the key is to get moving again right away. The longer you stay stalled, the more problems you create in your life and those around you.
