Every weekend I search the hundreds of channels that are available for a Western. This drives my Wife and kids crazy, but there is nothing like a good Western, preferably one with John Wayne, to get your weekend mojo going!
All good Westerns feature a Hired Gun. This is a man who has dedicated his life to mastering the quick draw and pursuing the highest bidder!
He cares nothing for loyalty or even right and wrong. All that matters to the hired Gun is getting the most money out of every situation. He spends his life in hot pursuit of the next big payday.
There is nothing wrong with perfecting your skill to the point of becoming in demand from many employers or even wanting to make as much money as possible.
The problem lies in losing your Purpose. When we pursue money at all costs we give up on the greatest gifts mankind has been given…Our Purpose and Passion!
Think about our society today and the place you now work. Can you see who the Hired Guns are at the job? Are you one of them?
The Hired Guns in a Western could have used their amazing skill to bring peace, order, and prosperity to towns but most used it only to make money!
If your paycheck is the most important reason why you work, then you are the Hired Gun at your Company! What happens to the company, employees, and Community does not concern you as long as you get paid!
The Town Sheriff decided to use his skills to help the Community even if it meant that he would have to put himself at risk. The Sheriff and Hired Gun look very similar on the outside, but only the Sheriff is pursuing his Purpose.
Dedicate your life to using the skills you have to help your peers, customers, and community, and your Purpose and Passion will find you!
