With all of the goals and dreams I did NOT achieve in life, they have all come down to one reason: I QUIT! As I look back on my dream to play Professional Football, I like to tell people it was because I was too old and that I was not skilled enough to make it. The real reason I was not skilled enough is because at some point in the process, I QUIT but kept going through the motions.
Whether my goal was playing football, being an Entrepreneur, Speaking, or Writing a Book, it was always the same enemy I faced (It is the same Enemy you face)…FEAR, and I have given in to this enemy too many times.
There is NOTHING in life that can stop you but YOU! No matter how big or small your dream is, it will ALWAYS be the same enemy you MUST face, and that enemy only has one desire…Get YOU to QUIT!
Most of us quit silently, long before we quit publically. As in my case with Football, we start to rationalize why we cannot do it and start to self-sabotage. On the outside, it still appears as if we are pursuing our dream, but on the inside we are afraid, and we have QUIT.
We decided it was TOO hard, the cost was Too much, that we did not have what it takes, that it was not really that important any way, that we are TOO old, TOO young, TOO broke, TOO busy and a 1,000 other excuses.
If this is you, and it is, then I recommend two things to help:
- Read biographies of those who have overcome huge obstacles to succeed every month. You already read and listen to TOO much that tells you why you can’t. Go to the library if you cannot afford to buy – NO EXCUSES.
- Find a Mentor who fits your Dream (One who has done it). NO ONE is a Lone Ranger – get a coach who can help when you’re down. We ALL need someone who cares more about our FUTURE than our FEELINGS!
EVERYONE must face the enemy of Fear, BUT the good news is that you can beat it, and once you do… NOTHING can stop you!
