It was not something I wanted to do, nor did I go willingly at first! Twenty five years ago, I was “forced” into a position of training others about money and success, but I had nothing whatsoever to show for it.
I was broke, living pay check to pay check, making less than minimum wage in a full commission sales job, renting a 900 square foot home for which I was late in paying every month. I wore clothes I bought from a thrift store and drove a 15 year old car held together by bubble gum and shoe strings! I was so embarrassed about my car that I would park it at least 2 blocks from where I was going to speak about success or talk to a business about how to make more sales. My situation didn’t stop me, though!
I was broke in every way on the outside, but I was rich on the inside! It took a couple of years of faking it, but my outside eventually caught up with my inside.
You have to BE it before you can HAVE it! The problem for most people is that they keep waiting for something to happen on the outside to justify saying and doing something beyond their current ability.
We will NEVER truly have the lifestyle we want without going through this stage in life. Every time you want to grow or increase in an area of your life (Spiritually, Relationally, Emotionally, Physically or Financially) you have to stretch. You must ACT as if it is so before it actually is!
Some will call you a fake and a hypocrite, and I am okay with that. I would rather be that than a quitter, excuse maker, complainer, rationalizer or gossiper. That is what will happen if we do not ACT as if we have it before we have it.
What is it you desire in your life? Start acting as if you already have it—act, speak, dress and profess the part—and watch what starts to take place in your life. In the beginning of my career, people kept inviting me to speak and train on subjects on which I had no outward evidence. The reason is because I kept saying and doing as if I did.
Start ACTING and TALKING as if you have it before you do, and ALL those things will find you!
