Don’t Read OR Feed the Trolls!

Early in my sales and business career, I used to love to listen to, read about and watch political shows. Every time I was in my car, the radio would be on some talk show all day long, and at home the TV would be on a news channel. I started to notice, after listening for a time, that my attitude was changing…For the worse!

Even though I was only listening to shows that I agreed with and believed in, my attitude was slowly becoming more negative. It was not the information from the shows that was causing the damage but how it was delivered and especially from the feedback of the listeners! People were angry and emotional and the longer I listened or responded to the feedback, the angrier I became.

I found that this anger started to affect all the areas of my life: My relationships, My job, My energy level, My peace of mind, My finances, My words, and My Attitude. I could not believe how much I had changed, for the worse, in such a short period of time.

According to Wikipedia the word Troll means: In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[3]

Do not Read or Feed the Trolls! I do not care who you are or how strong you think you are, if you are ingesting the anger from these people you will wake up one day a TROLL! It is really easy to do because it is so addictive to the human mind. It will start off innocently with you wanting to become more informed, and at some point you will get lost in all the anger and emotion.

Once I figured out what was happening, I started listening, reading and watching motivational and inspirational information. Like magic, my attitude not only returned, but now every area of my life started to get better…A LOT BETTER!

Beware of the Trolls – Don’t Read them and Don’t Feed them (Respond).

Use your time wisely by changing yourself and then– and ONLY then– can you change the world!
