It’s not what you can GET but what you GIVE that matters!
At 25 years old, I got involved with a small group of about twenty business people who would meet at 6am every Friday to learn and fellowship. Bob was the group leader, and he spoke about how to be successful in all areas of life. One year into this, Bob called me and said he could no longer lead the group but not to worry… he said I could take over!
If I did not know Bob well, I would have guessed that he had been drinking! There was NO WAY I could lead a group of business people about being successful.
I had every legitimate excuse to prove it:
I was the youngest in the group!
I made the least amount of money!
Everyone had more education than I did!
I had just started on my career!
We did not own a home; we rented!
I had not done anything worth talking about!
I had nothing worth value to share!
Who was I to lead people more successful, older and wiser?
Bob would have nothing to do with my excuses and told me it was time to stop trying to get and start to give! It took me a couple of months to get my head around the idea of leading the group and to work up enough courage to say yes!
It was one of the best decisions I ever made even if I was “forced” into it. I had to stop trying to GET success from someone else and start to GIVE instead. This changed EVERYTHING and became a catalyst in my life that propelled me into a whole new world!
True success in life comes from Giving not Getting! We spend too much of our time looking for someone we can GET info, help, money, resources and guidance from instead of looking to GIVE those things to others.
Like me, you might feel like you have nothing to give, but that would be a LIE! You have a unique message that no one in the history of the world has, and it is your job to give it away! The world is waiting for you to change directions and GIVE.
