I loved playing football. It was and still is the only sport that made sense to me. During the off season, I would play basketball to stay in shape, but I was terrible at it. Every time I played basketball, one of three things happened. I would foul out quickly, be ejected from the game or someone would cry for his mommy!
My problem was playing by the wrong rules. I would bring football rules to a basketball game, and that would get me in trouble every time. It might come as a shock to you, but they do not allow hitting, tackling or forearm shivers to the throat in basketball! I know what you’re thinking – HOW BORING!
This might seem basic to you, but most people are playing Money and work by the wrong rules. It works just as poorly as bringing football rules to a basketball game… You will foul out, be ejected or someone is going to cry for his mommy!
The rules changed, but we are still trying to play by the OLD rules, and we are losing badly! We are taught to go to school, get an education, find a good job and everything will be okay financially. That used to work under the old rules, but now that will keep you trading your time for dollars and that means you can’t win.
You can survive that way by living pay check to pay check as long as you can continue to work (trade your time for money) and never get sick, hurt or grow old! This system will keep most of us within 30 to 90 days of being bankrupt if we ever have to stop working for some reason. If you stopped working today, how long could you keep paying your bills and live to the same level without making drastic changes?
Get your education and your job, BUT in your spare time learn the NEW RULES and start to build passive income. Build something that does NOT rely on your time to create income. Build something that will continue to grow and pay even when you stop. There are many ways to do this: Stock Market, Real Estate, Business, Inventions, Intellectual Properties, Investing, and dozens of others waiting to be explored! The key is to find what aligns to your Passion. Start learning and imitating.
I stopped playing Basketball with Football rules by imitating the people who were really good at the game. That’s when the game became fun instead of frustrating. Start imitating those who are really good at finances and passive income, and watch how much fun you can have in the game of life!
