As a boy, I loved to play with fire! I would try to set everything on fire just to see it burn—leaves, wood, toys, clothes and even old tires. One day, while sitting in my closet, I had a bright idea. It would be neat to see how fast a plastic dry cleaner’s cover would burn. In a flash, the fire burned through the plastic and started to spread so quickly. Thank God I was able to put it out or that would have burned the entire house down!
I learned my lesson that day about how dangerous fire can be and never again misused it for something foolish or dangerous!
I still play with fire, but now it’s to help and not harm. It is a goal of mine to set someone on fire every day! Not the kind of fire that comes from a match or lighter, but the consuming fire that sets our hearts ablaze…PASSION!
Passion is a fire on the inside of every human being that ignites when we understand who it is we are called to serve. Serving others is the spark that will start a soul on fire! If you’re not sure who ignites your passion, then start serving others. Start investing your life into other people because even if your wood is wet, serving will create enough heat to eventually catch fire!
Serving ourselves only is like throwing water on our campfire and expecting to be able to continue cooking with it. Many of us have been doing this for too long, and that is why millions are unhappy and unfulfilled with their lives.
Who are you serving? There is NO wrong answer to this! Even if the one you are serving now is NOT your Passion, serving WILL lead you to it.
