Do you have what you want or...?

This might be the most important question you can answer right now! Do you have what you want or do you want what you have? How you answer these questions dictate whether you will be happy or frustrated—whether you will live in the present, the future or the past—whether you will love what you do or hate it—whether you will live free or live as a slave!

Having what you want is an addiction and will lead to discontentment, loss of peace, strife, envy, bitterness and a never-ending pursuit of more! Like any addiction, no matter how many toys and things you acquire, it will never be enough. We will never be satisfied with what we have, or with any accomplishments we make.

Our quest in life will always be one more thing, one more conquest, or one more purchase because it will never be enough to satisfy that emptiness we have. Each new thing we acquire that we “wanted” brings us less satisfaction and peace, so we launch into the next thing on our list in hopes that will fill the void!

There is nothing wrong with wanting a better life, car, home, income, health or stuff, but when we are no longer grateful with what we currently have, then we get into trouble.

When my son was two years old and would be playing with toys at someone’s house and another child started playing with a toy he did not have, he would immediately “want” that other toy. All babies go through this stage and hopefully grow out of it. The challenge is that it manifests itself in our lives as adults and it’s an easy trap to fall into.

Wanting what you have calls for us to be grateful for the people, things, money, health and stuff we do have! It means we stop and enjoy the life we are currently living because when we stop and really look at what we have, the abundance will amaze you!

This is the hardest life lesson that I face and one that I struggle with more than any other type of heart addiction. Let’s learn together how to be grateful and be satisfied with wanting what we have!

FIND YOUR PASSION AND YOU WILL FIND YOUR LIFE!
