One of my favorite Twilight Zone Episodes was about a mobster who died and went to his Eternal resting place. It was a wonderful place, everything he ever wished for and wanted. Everything he tried, he saw immediate success. He played poker and won every hand. Every woman desired him. At first this was a dream come true, but after some time, he started to hate his new home. In the end, he confessed to the keeper that he did not like Heaven after all. He requested to try hell instead, and his keeper replied…. this is HELL!
There is no such thing as Utopia or an easy life. If we had a perfect and easy life, we would end up hating it. Our lives would become a meaningless, predictable boredom. Obstacles, challenges, hardships and trials are life’s secret sauce. They are our opportunities to grow stronger, wiser and deeper than we are now.
Look back on your life now and remember the hard times, the bitter times and the unfair times you have lived through. Hidden in each one of those challenges was a treasure, and it is to your glory to go through it and find it.
Without obstacles, we would stop growing and would never become what we were created to do. We would never reach our destiny and never realize our full potential. Obstacles are our stepping stones to success! If you toughen up, conquer and learn from them, these trials will become your greatest asset.
As I look back on some of the larger obstacles in my own life, I now see them as a SAIL and not an ANCHOR. What we learned and became, because of facing them, has enriched our lives more than I could ever convey. These obstacles at first look like they will dominate and destroy your life, but what we find out by facing them head on is that they are actually opportunities to grow.
Obstacles are life’s secret sauce. Don’t try to avoid them or wish for them to go away. A life without obstacles is a life of HELL!
