AM I PART OF THE PROBLEM?

How easy is it to look at a person, family, business, church or a City and point out all the things that are wrong? How easy is it to play arm chair quarter back, sitting in the safety of your home, removed from the struggle, and point out all the mistakes? Not only are these easy to do but I’ve become a master at them!

Do any of these sound familiar?

You should do it this way.

You need to provide this.

It would work better if you tried this.

You should provide this for your employees.

Your business should buy this.

This City needs more Police; you should hire more.

Do you notice the common theme in these? Each “Solution” to the problem is really a demand in disguise! All of them have the word “YOU” in them. Meaning YOU should do this, YOU should pay for this, YOU should work at this or YOU should be the one responsible for implementing my “Solution”!

These are not solutions at all. Yes, they might be what is needed and even the correct action, but all of them DEMAND that someone else be responsible and take action. In these scenarios, I am the PROBLEM and not the SOLUTION!

To be part of the Solution and not the Problem means I MUST BE INVOLVED with the Solution. I must be Responsible for carrying it out to completion. Pointing out the problem is easy and only makes the problem bigger. Offering a Solution that does not INVOLVE ME makes me PART of the PROBLEM!

I believe that if we can see what a problem is in a person, family, business, church or city, then we have also been given the Ability to help provide an INVOLVED SOLUTION! Try rewording your ideas, and this time start with the word “I”.

When we see something in an area that needs to be done, then we must ask how I can help provide a solution. The amount of help is not as important as getting involved. Whether you can commit a little or a lot is not important. Ask yourself, what can I do to improve this situation? Getting involved makes us Part of the SOLUTION and not the PROBLEM!

Your City, businesses, churches, and families need you.

Find your Passion and you will find your Life!
