High wire tightrope walkers have my respect and admiration. I love watching them with their long balance poles cross over a huge expanse like a canyon, especially those who can do it without a safety net! The trick to making it across the tight rope is the constant corrections you make with each step – the balancing act.

Life is a lot like tightrope walkers; it’s a constant struggle to keep our balance and not fall. Years ago, I found my life out of balance. I was working 12 to 15 hours a day at the expense of my family, health and spiritual life.

I had to make many corrections to my life to get back in balance:

  1. My work day changed to 8 to 10 hours per day.
  2. Every day for lunch, I went to the gym.
  3. I picked up my boys from school every day and went home.
  4. I made my Spiritual life a priority.
  5. I cut out a lot of unfocused and unimportant things in my life.
  6. I learned to say No!
  7. I delegated work or hired people to take care of the non-essential tasks.

These are a few of the decisions I made to get my life back in balance. The key to making it work was my “Balance Pole.” This is a long, somewhat inflexible, pole that helps you keep a low center of gravity so that you do not fall. This is a critical tool that centers your balance. Everybody needs a balance pole in life if you want to successfully navigate every challenge, obstacle and hardship. My Balance Pole is my Faith. It gives me a standard by which to live my life and helps me to make the constant corrections needed to stay the course. The results have been staggering since making those corrections in my life:

  1. Our income increased even though my hours decreased!
  2. I lost weight and gained energy!
  3. Spending time and making memories with my family is a regular part of my routine!
  4. I found a level of Peace that I did not know existed!
  5. I am actually having FUN and looking forward to each day!

There is no such thing as the perfect life, but you can have balance if you are willing to make constant corrections every day. Find your own Balance Pole. It’s that unmovable, unshakable core value deep inside you. Identify it and use it as your tool so you can keep balance in all the important areas of your life!

Find your Passion and you will find your life!
