Passive or Proactive?

Last week we learned to say “Yes” to every opportunity that came to us, to say “Yes” before we had a chance to think about it, to say “Yes” before Fear started to push us around on the playground of our minds! Fear is a bully, and the only way to handle a bully is to face him. Saying “Yes” to every opportunity is a great start, but if you want to stay in the game you will have to be proactive.

After I started saying “Yes” to every opportunity (Public Speaking), I noticed a pattern. The only time I spoke was when someone came to me and asked me to speak. This is being Passive and unfortunately is what a lot of us do. For the last 25 years, I have been helping people start up and grow their businesses. The majority of these entrepreneurs have the same thing in common: once they open the business, they sit back and wait for the customers to come in. I have bad news for you – It’s not going to happen! If we want to grow a business, a brand, or an opportunity like public speaking, then we must be proactive.

I had to learn that if I want to be a motivational speaker, then I have to be proactive. That means we have to once again get out of our comfort zones and now ask others. We have the idea that once we build it, they will come and life will get easy! I almost wish this was the case, but I also know how important it is to each of us to get comfortable being uncomfortable. This is where we grow as people and entrepreneurs. Stop waiting for your opportunities to come to you, and let’s get out and go to them! Stop waiting and start inviting.

Find your Passion and you will find your life!
